Our Charity work

Every biker who comes through the BMAD entrance makes a donation which allows BMAD to make a difference to so many lives across Torbay. The Wednesday evenings are also a huge tourist attraction for non-bikers who have free access to the promenade. There are collecting cans at the BMAD trailer and committee members will accept donations from the general public and also sell BMAD merchandise from the trailer for very reasonable prices.

BMAD is fully engaged with raising monies for charities and within it's constitution it states that 100% of all monies donated to BMAD will be distributed to their standing charities of the Air Ambulance, St Johns Ambulance and the Torbay Young Carers, in adition we receive requests from other organisations and individuals. BMAD are able to donate equipment, toys, electrical goods and other such items to improve the quality of life for sick, disabled and disadvantaged children and young people up to the age of ninteen within the Torbay area.

Applications and requests for funds come in regularly and already quite a substantial amount of the donations to BMAD have been distibuted throughout the Bay.

2009 Donations

The BMAD 2009 fundraising season began with a superb festival weekend where £16,100.00 was raised for its charities. With the aid of the early promenade closure this year, two additional bike nights brought in a healthy £986.00. The weather plays a huge part in the amount of money raised.

As at the 1st October with the festival and subsequent Wednesday Bike Nights the current running total is £34,599.39. At the end of the 2008 season £29,589.00 had been collected, so we are proud that we have surpassed last years ammount.

So far this year, 2009, we have donated as follows:

£4000.00 to Steps Charity (Special Toys Educational Postal Services) which supplies sensory and adapted toys for some of the most disabled children in the bay.

£200.00 For Checkpoint to restock their food reserves for homeless young people which was stolen during a recent burglary.

£3000.00 For Cool Recovery which supports young carers of people with mental health problems to purchase photographic and recording equipment.
