Bikers Make A Difference (BMAD)

Charity Secretary's Report

As we approach the start of a new "BIKE NIGHT" season, kick starting with the Festival- Friday 28th April to Sunday 30th April, I feel that it is important to publicise on the website how last year's donations were distributed.

We receive many requests for funds and it would be wonderful to be able to respond positively to everyone but as a committee we have to make some very tough decisions.

At BMAD's inception, part of the mission statement was to help sick and disabled children in Torbay by supplying equipment that would improve their quality of life. When you read how the money was distributed I am sure you will agree that this has been successfully carried out.

Unfortunately the committee over the last 12 months has had to refuse requests, several from very caring staff at Torbay Hospital, for what we regard as basic and essential equipment. We felt so strongly about this that we have passed these requests to our local M.P. in the hope that something can be done. But I am not entering into a political debate here!

In excess of £31,000 was raised from donations at the Festival and Wednesday's Bike Nights and has been distributed as follows:-

Approximately £2300 remains in our charity account and this will be allocated to worthy causes as we receive them
